Raspbel Preserves (ラズベル・プリザーブ) is one of the supporting characters in The Gray Garden. She is a demon and Rawberry's older sister.

Appearance[]

Raspbel has raceless white skin and peach pink hair fading into red demon wings with two additional wings on the crown of her head. Her eyes are pink, and in-game, she wears a simple black dress with a red ribbon, white cuffs, and black Mary Janes. Her character portrait shows her with a pink underskirt, magenta overskirt with a triangle-like cutout in front and frills on the hem, cuffs with hearts on each, frilled short white capelet around her neck with a magenta bat brooch, a turtleneck, a pink underside, and black leggings with crimson Mary Jane shoes.

Personality[]

Raspbel appears very nice and polite at first. She has a hobby of cleaning, according to the bonus room. However, from a bonus room video, it can be assumed she has cannibalistic tendencies, a trait she shares with her sister.

Background[]

Raspel was created seemingly by Etihw along with her sister as reincarnations of Cranber.

Rawberry Preserves[]

Rawberry is Raspbel's younger sister. Rawberry seems to care a lot for her sister. During Ivlis' attack on the Gray Garden, Rawberry was seen searching for Raspbel amongst the evacuated civilians, even losing control when she saw her big sister surrounded by enemies. Raspbel also cannot wake up by herself; she needs the help of Rawberry to do so.

During the bonus scene "Raspbel's Secret", Rawberry invites Macarona over for a sleepover. Once the girls are in bed, Raspbel reveals she keeps a dark secret. During this time, Rawberry teases Macarona and "nibbles" her too much. Rawberry leaves the room seeking Raspbel's help. It is at this time that Raspbel attacks her sister, profusely apologizing for it. However, a sinister side to her is shown as she comments that good girls should be in bed at that hour.

Cranber[]

Cranber is Raspbel's ancestor who died in the Great War before the events of The Gray Garden. Raspbel inherited Cranber's insatiable appetite.

Etihw is the god of the world Raspbel lives in. They have not been seen interacting, but Etihw is aware of Raspbel's cannibalistic tendencies. ^[1]

Macarona[]

Macarona is Raspbel's friend. Macarona is fond of Raspbel and thinks of her as a good cook. Raspbel highly encourages Macarona and is disapproving of Rawberry's teasing attitude towards the angel.

Nigh-Absolute Immortality - Being a demon, Raspbel Preserves cannot die from natural causes such as aging or disease. ^[2] ^[3]
Regenerative Healing Factor - Being a demon, she is able to regenerate body parts, even guts and bones. ^[4]
Ambidexterity - She is naturally ambidextrous. ^[5]
Flight - She has wings with which she is able to fly.

Trivia[]

Raspbel's name stems from the fruit raspberry. ^[6]
- Her last name "Preserves" is a word used to describe all types of jam and jellies.
Raspbel and Rawberry are the reincarnations of Cranber. They are the only characters in The Gray Garden known to share a common ancestor.
