Met (メット) is one of the main characters in Obsolete Dream. She used to be a human named Rika Momijibayashi (紅葉林 莉佳) but passed away and turned into a ghost. [3] She currently resides in Ne-no-Kuni, where she has her own radio show called Bloody Radio.
Physical Description
Met has medium length maroon hair and red eyes. She wears a short-sleeve tan collared shirt, pink tie, tan shorts, red and black striped leggings, and black boots. She also wears black suspender straps and a red and black striped long-sleeve cuffed shirt under her collared shirt. She mostly wears her biker helmet in the manga and headphones in the games as well. Her head is constantly drenched in blood (which she claims is akin to sweat).
Back when she was alive, her hair was dark brown but still had red eyes. She wore a seifuku consisting of a white sailor shirt with a black collar, red ribbon tie, and black cuffs. She also wore a black knee-length pleated skirt with black knee socks and black loafers. She appeared to be covered in blood splatters which are on her forehead, hem of her skirt, hands, and legs. She carried a steel pipe which seemed to be stained with blood as well.
Personality
Met is positive thinking, spontaneous, and boisterous. She comes across as very friendly and sociable and has a relaxed and casual way of talking to people. [4] She tends to refer to her friends with nicknames (e.g. Nee-san (Big Sis) for Hanten, Kuro-tsun for Kurotsuno, Bisbis for Bis.) In contrast to these optimistic traits of hers, Met’s main source of amusement is violence and murder.
Met has a variety of talents and hobbies she enjoys. She likes motorcycles and rides one herself. Met is a hard worker and good cook. [5] She is a lesbian and enjoys hitting on girls. She likes girls with “very strong temperaments” the most. [3] She likes music and plays various instruments such as the piano, the guitar, and the triangle. She is also good at playing electronic dance music [6] and singing as well. Her radio show is something she takes great joy in. She has a fascination with witches, Wadanohara being her favorite. Met also holds a particular likeness for birds. When Chlomaki inquires Kurotsuno and Met to find a white crow for her in Obsolete Dream chapter 3, Met desperately tries to stop Kurotsuno from injuring it, going so far as to make Kurotsuno trip on purpose even when it resulted in her tearing Met in half. In Obsolete Dream chapter 4, Met gets mad at Kurotsuno for hitting a crow with a slingshot, which turned out to be her father Sullivan.
Background
Met used to be a cheerful human girl. However, due to a complicated family environment and other factors, her spirit completely collapsed. [7] Due to this breakdown, her sense of values and ethics drastically changed and she began to murder other humans. After she became a ghost, Met became "very happy," almost akin to "crazy." [7] It was also only after she became a ghost Met realized she was a lesbian. [7] Her actual cause of death is currently unknown.
As a ghost, she now lives amongst the denizens of Ne-no-Kuni and resides in Kurotsuno's mansion as one of her housemates. She is a student but only occasionally attends school since attendance is voluntary in Ne-no-Kuni. [8] She is also a very popular DJ all around Ne-no-Kuni and gives autographs when asked for them. [9] She hosts her own talk show on her own radio station by the name of "Bloody Radio" and considers her interviewing room as "sacred;" because of this, only her guests and her are allowed to enter.

Relationships
Obsolete Dream Cast
Hanten

Hanten breaking Met's helmet
Hanten is Met's superior [2] who Met has an unrequited crush on. They have only been seen interacting on a few occasions. Hanten enjoys inflicting acts of violence on Met; for example, by breaking her helmet or pulling out her guts, though Met does not seem to mind this. She calls Hanten "nee-san" (姉さん) in Japanese, which literally translates to "big sis," though can also be used to express respect and adoration towards another. [10]
Met has repeatedly expressed she has a crush on Hanten. In the The Gray Garden bonus room, she says Hanten never acknowledges her feelings and she has "ways to go." However, Met also seems to be aware her crush on Hanten will never be requited. In the Mini Bloody Radio show posted on the Sunahama in November of 2016, she stated, "The person I like? Thaaaa~t's obvious! It's Big Sis Hanten!!! But of course, that'll go unrequited forever. That gal... Oh, nevermind! If you tell anyone that, you'll die!" Thus, the reason behind this currently remains unknown.
Kurotsuno
Kurotsuno is a friend and housemate of Met. Met gets on Kurotsuno's nerves most of the time and thus endures gruesome violence by her, which Kurotsuno typically uses to shut her down. Kurotsuno also does not have any qualms in trading off Met for a hundred years as someone else's servant, as shown in chapter 4. Regardless, Met does not seem to hold it against her. She calls Kurotsuno by the overly familiar nickname "Kuro-tsun'." [10]
Bis
Bis is one of Met's friends and housemates. They are on relatively friendly terms, with Met using the nickname "Bisbis" to refer to Bis. Met also has a habit of teasing Bis by for instance calling her "doggy," which annoys her. They have been seen hanging out and playing video games together.
Reina
Reina is one of Met's friends and housemates. Met tends to tease Bis much like Reina does, but in a more cheerful manner with an intention to be fun rather than rude. They were seen playing Jenga together in Obsolete Dream chapter 4 .
Chlomaki
Chlomaki is Met's acquaintance. They appear to be on good terms. Though they first interact in chapter 3 of Obsolete Dream, it is implied Met might have known Chlomaki before then. They interact again in chapter 7 , where Chlomaki tells Met about the events that transpired in Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea.
Various
Chloe
Chloe is Met's girlfriend. While they have not been seen interacting much, they seem to get along well. Chloe is not jealous or particularly concerned about Met playing with or being around other girls. [11]
Deep-Sea Prisoner drew Met with Chloe when commissioned by someone to draw canon sapphic content involving Met. She later formally confirmed Met and Chloe are dating in a tweet. [12] They also appeared together in the 2018 Halloween artwork.
Yonaka Kurai
Yonaka is one of Met's interviewees. During her radio talk in Mogeko Castle, Met liked to tease her because of her brother complex.
Yosafire
Yosafire is one of Met's interviewees. She and Met seem to be in somewhat good relations, although Yosafire considers Met to be insane.
Wadanohara
Wadanohara is one of Met's interviewees. Met once possessed Wadanohara during a Bloody Radio interview. She also said she wants to be with Wadanohara out of all witches and hit on her.
Samekichi
Samekichi and Met are acquaintances. In the Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea bonus room interview, Samekichi intruded Met's studio when she was interviewing Wadanohara. Met subsequently possessed Samekichi, which he did not appreciate. As such they do not seem to be on good terms.
Lobco
Lobco and Met have not been seen interacting yet, but Deep-Sea Prisoner has said Met knows Lobco and hits on her because she likes cute girls. [13]
Moge-ko
Moge-ko and Met have not been seen interacting, but Met has referred to her as a nutcase. During the Bloody Radio interview in Mogeko Castle, she mentioned she had been attacked by Moge-ko and had to run away from her.
Abilities
Skillset
- Triangle-Playing - Met is able to play the triangle, as shown in Obsolete Dream chapter 1.
- Guitar-Playing - She is able to play the guitar, as shown in Obsolete Dream chapter 2.
- Piano-Playing - She is able to play the piano, as shown in a LOG gif.
Met playing the piano next to Yosafire
- EDM-Playing - She is said to be good at playing electronic dance music. [6]
- Singing - She is shown to like singing in Obsolete Dream chapter 2.
- Motorbiking - She has her own motorbike and is able to ride on it.
- Radio-Hosting - She has her own radio show called Bloody Radio.
- DJ-ing - She is a famous DJ in Castle Town. [9]
- Pipe Wielding - She uses a pipe as a weapon to commit murder.
Natural Abilities
- Nigh-Absolute Immortality - Like most non-human characters in the Deep-Sea Universe, Met cannot die from aging. [14]
- Levitation - She is able to levitate, as evident by her being a ghost and shown throughout Obsolete Dream.
- Possession - As shown in the Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea bonus room interview, she has the ability to possess others, granted they give her permission to do so.
- Blood Perspiration - As shown in her radio interviews and various LOG artworks, she sweats blood from her forehead instead of actual sweat. The color of this sweat varies from red to black.
- Head Liberation - She is able to continue "living" and speaking without her head attached to her body, as shown in chapter 3 of Obsolete Dream.
Trivia
- The name "Met" is derived from the word helmet. [15]
- "Momijibayashi" means "autumn forest" while "Rika" means "fragrance" in Japanese. [15]
- Previously on Deep-Sea Prisoner's character page, clicking on Met's full portrait would load Rika's.
- In Obsolete Dream, Met is always seen wearing her helmet. As such, her face has only briefly been shown on one occasion in the manga, this being on the first page of chapter two.
- Met's birthday is 4/4;[1] this is likely to be a joke on how 4 in Japanese can be pronounced shi, which is also the word for death. It is considered an unlucky number.
- Met's first Skeb commission is a scene from a work being released in the future. [16]
